Home theater calibrations and design are our focus. People who purchase a home theater expect to have the best sound and image reproduction possible. Our service is designed to bring your system up to the best level of performance it can deliver. We also offer purchase advice to help you improve your system or provide the highest quality at your price point. We sell no equipment so our opinions are not biased by any interest in selling you equipment.
Our video calibrations use a color measurement instrument that is the most accurate and sensitive spectrophotometer from the leading color measurement company Photo Research. This device guarantees that you will receive the best color calibration that one can have. When used to setup a high quality display the results are nothing short of astounding. Various other test equipment and reference material are also used to optimize your display performance so you receive the image quality you paid for.
Our audio calibration is designed to get the most from any sound system. This service will optimize your audio within your acoustic environment. The audio test method is automated which allows you to have an exceptional value while obtaining results that exceed those available from built-in automatic routines. Advice on room treatments and design to optimize audio performance is also available.

Jeff is a degreed engineer who has a passion for quality audio and film reproduction in the home environment. His insights on video and film reproduction over the years have led to numerous requests from leading ISF calibrators, retailers and manufacturers for his perspectives on how to get the most from any system.
Jeff is now bringing that enthusiasm and experience in science, audio, video, film and optical performance to your home and business. He is available to assist you with system selection, audio and video calibration, and for consultation on how to achieve the utmost quality from your system. Hearing and vision are unique to each individual. So, Jeff focuses on not only the standards associated with film and sound reproduction, but also on you as an individual so you end up with a system you can enjoy. I was recently very fortunate to have Jeff with AccuCal calibrate my home theater system which consists of a Pioneer 60\" Kuro Elite display, an Onkyo TX-SR876 receiver, an Emotiva XPA-3 amp, a full set of Polk RTiA series speakers, a SVS PB12-Plus sub, an Oppo BDP-83 BR player, and a PS3.
I thought the display needed help in certain viewing modes, especially after another firm had recently attempted the calibration and left me somewhat disappointed in their work. I tinker a lot with the audio and actually believed I had this in good shape.
Jeff spent 6 1/2 hours completely reworking both the video and audio. It was quickly evident he was a skilled professional with extensive training and experience, not to mention the vast array of very expensive calibration equipment he brought into my home was amazing in itself.
The finished product simply blew me away. It is simply impossible for me to imagine a better video display. And the audio self calibration I had prided myself on, was now an embarrassment. He had my 7.1 surround system now singing like never before. Then to top it off, he furnished me with a professional report documenting everything he had done.
Oh, and did I mention Jeff is also a very pleasant and educational guy to visit with while he works??
The bottom line is that Jeff is truly a well equipped professional and knows his business. I highly recommend his services to anybody considering a professional calibration of their system. I could not be more delighted.
Elite 150 & Audio Calibration

I have used AccuCal (Jeff Meier) to calibrate two displays: a Sony 34" HD CRT some years ago and a Pioneer Elite 150 plasma this week. Jeff has the correct (high precision/high cost) tools to measure and allow adjustment for all the items of concern: color (primaries/secondaries), grayscale, gamma, etc.
Jeff has a robust business and sees many types of displays. Thus he not only benefits from knowing how to use these tools but in my case was very familiar with my display, so was efficiently able to determine what needed to be adjusted. The changes he made for me were large and positive.
For example, I watch a lot of DVDs (SD & HD) that have low light scenes, and the benefit of the changes he made was instantly recognizable. I can now see color and detail in scenes that just wasn't there before. An example is the hair covering professor McGonagall wears under her cap in the welcoming scene early in HP movie #1. It is a very small detail, but after watching this movie numerous times this is the first time I could see the covering, its pattern, and the colors making up the pattern. These low light differences coupled with changes to overall color and sharpness brought out what this plasma is capable of and made the total viewing experience look right -- it's hard to communicate what "right" means but you know it when you see it.
I also asked Jeff to listen to my audio system for a problem I couldn't pinpoint. Once again, because Jeff had the tools and the knowledge, he was able to fix a major low bass issue, a reverse polarity problem in my subs, eq for the entire system, and total sound level per speaker. I'd attempted these fixes myself since my receiver and subs have built in test tones and self-calibration capabilities but I knew things still weren't right.
What's nice about the way Jeff works is you can graphically see the audio issues and how they are being corrected in real time. You can certainly hear the difference once he is done; just like the video corrections, the audio changes were large and positive.
Although Jeff is very efficient, it is clear he loves what he does. This means he not only takes the time to get the job done correctly but also shares his thoughts on what he is doing. He is very clear about ensuring his calibrations are to "standard," but he also understands that there is such a thing as personal taste. He will demonstrate to the customer where personal taste is a good thing and where it may not be such a good thing -- but he is very willing to work with the customer.
Without hesitation I would use AccuCal and Jeff again and recommend him to anyone looking for audio and video calibration services.
